From rad to relax: 5 mountain biking jerseys for men at the end of summer
A jersey can make or break your trail personality and can be the centerpiece of the garment when it comes to the look of a cyclist. Strong and aggressive can mean you’re a gravity lover who wants nothing more than to blast corners into oblivion, while a flowery button indicates you’re ready for whatever the trail brings. Either way, there is a jersey for you these days, and there are probably more options than ever before. Here are some of the latest men’s jerseys that I wear.
686 x Evil Blackout Cycling Jersey
The 686xEvil Blackout jersey, devoid of any pattern or color, is about as simple as it gets. It’s dead black, made from recycled polyester, with taped seams and an antimicrobial finish. It helps fight the stench, but it’s not a swimsuit you’ll want to wear for more than one outing.
The drooping tail gives it a nice fit and feel and maybe the best thing about it is that since it’s black it will go with just about any pair of shorts. Although it’s jet black, it doesn’t get very hot in the summer, and it’s a material cool enough that it doesn’t look like a total sweat box. 686 also offers a long-sleeved hooded version for $ 65.
MSRP: $ 50
Club Ride atmosphere
Club Ride has become the go-to option for casual Western-inspired button-down jerseys and the Vibe is the latest addition to the game. The Vibe is similar to the New West jersey, but with a looser fit. The pattern uses a 4-way stretch fabric made from soluble yarn fabric which creates a highly ventilated jersey.
The design features flat plastic snaps and a small eyewear wipe inside, subtle reflective accents and a small zippered pocket on the back.
Club Ride makes great jerseys for people who don’t want to shout “I’m a mountain biker” everywhere they go, although their brand is synonymous with mountain biking, so you’re still making a statement to other riders. . Overall, the Vibe is a really cool, breathable jersey for summer riding.
MSRP: $ 90. Available at Club Ride.
Giro’s new Roust jersey has a sturdy yet lightweight feel and is one of the garments from the brand’s new Renew line, made from recycled materials. The Roust fabric wicks away moisture and has an inner lens wipe and a drooping tail.
The jersey has a loose, relaxed feel and is very light for mid-summer and mid-day rides. The gray and white color we received is obviously a great choice for riding in the heat, although Giro makes this jersey in 11 other colors / patterns.
All in all, the Roust is a great option for trail running enduro during the summer months.
MSRP: $ 70. Styles available at various online retailers.
Kitsbow is known for its tailor-made clothing stores and there is a special feeling knowing your jersey was made for you, instead of hanging at a retailer, waiting for a buyer.
The Superflow is one of Kitsbow’s select short sleeve options with an almost tailored feel. The jersey is made from a polyester blend with UPF 30 protection, and it’s actually made in the USA at their site in Old Fort, NC. Kitsbow also has an accident policy and strives to get ripped clothing back into the hands of the rider.
The Superflow is a comfortable, fitted jersey that has been a favorite in all summer conditions. Kitsbow makes a similar jersey, the Cyclone, with a slightly thicker material. The Superflow brings in a lot of airflow and although a little sweat can collect on the fabric, it dries quickly.
MSRP: $ 65
RAD Apparel, or Ride All Day, is a small brand based in Colorado Springs, Colo. That makes different jerseys and t-shirts. The Trail Chaser jersey has a pretty cool silhouette tree background with a mostly simple jersey design.
The Trail Chaser is made from recycled polyester, it has a dropped tail, square neckline, two-way stretch and sublimated graphics.
The Trail Chaser has been a cool option for summer walks in Colorado and is very durable. It ventilates well and does not heat too much despite its dark accents. The fit is looser and looks like an average height for our 5’8 “tester.
RAD offers three other jersey options which all have a similar fit, but different graphics.
MSRP: $ 55.
